Villa Bogdano is an old-vine pioneer, crafting structured, elegant, and surprisingly ageworthy wines from the unheralded region of Lison di Portogruaro, in the north of Venezia. This Pinot Grigio is made from vineyards planted in 2015, certified organic, and grown on predominantly clay soils with limestone in the deeper layer. At the outset, soft pressing and controlled fermentation at 18 °C serve to combine pure fruit character with finesse. Maturation was 8 months on the fine lees in vitrified concrete tanks, with regular bâtonnage every 10 days, and a further 3 months in bottle. Intense straw yellow hue with golden glints. On the nose, there are delicate floral aromas that recall honeysuckle together with fruity notes of peach, melon, and lime. The palate is fresh and well balanced, with a focused and hugely enjoyable fruity finish.
