Intro
The Matetic family, the renowned producer behind the TerraPura estate, believes in exploring important regional differences within the varied Chilean landscape which is why they have produced this Single Vineyard Chardonnay in the cool, coastal climate of Casablanca. The area provides the perfect ripening conditions for Chardonnay: only a stone’s throw (with a good arm) from the Pacific Ocean, it’s this proximity that has made the area one of the premium regions for white varieties in Chile.
Tasting Note
Heady vanilla and honeyed, oaky notes combine with very pretty aromas of orange and apple. The palate is rich and round but marked by a harmony between fruit and oak, as well as a typically saline finish characteristic of the Casablanca region.
Food Pairing
An overtly fruity and creamy Chardonnay, this wine is crying out for rich, indulgent dishes. This would sit well alongside a hearty risotto, roasted asparagus or baked river trout but equally would not be out of place at a picnic by the sea with some freshly caught crab or crayfish.
