Intro
Founded in 1922, Bodegas Toneles owns vineyards in what are now considered to be the most exclusive real estate in Argentina: the Uco Valley. Endless blue skies make this a paradise for Malbec grapes that need lots of sunlight. Flor del Inca Malbec is produced from vineyards in the Primera Zona and Uco Valley at an average altitude of 950 m.a.s.l. The wine is aged in tank for four months in contact with French and American oak of medium toast.
Tasting Note
Bright red with violet hints typical from this variety showing strong red fruit character of damson, Victoria plum, blackcurrant and gentle spicy notes. Fruit leads on the palate with lots of ripe black fruit supported by soft tannins and just a whisp of acidity to keep everything in order. This wine is accessible and all about pleasure. It doesn’t need to be cellared for years, decanted or otherwise worshipped.
Food Pairing
Malbec’s pronounced and bright fruit flavours mean that it’s ideally suited to drinking on its own. When it really comes alive, however, is when paired with red meat. It’s perfect with steak (right off the asado – Argentinean style), lamb or pork.
