Intro

The Itata, in the region of Bió Bió, is possibly the oldest wine producing region in Chile with vines likely arriving in the area in the mid 1500s. It is also one of the more southern regions in the country and given its exposure to the elements, it is a little cooler with more rain and cloud cover. It is for these reasons that many producers are seeing great potential for the region in the production of Pinot Noir: here there is no lack of sunlight but the wines retain a little more freshness and drinkability.

Tasting Note

Very typical Pinot aromas of cherries and blueberries with an enticing smokey character from some oak aging for around six months. The palate is silky smooth with really appealing sweetness from balanced ripe fruit and oak. This is a crowd pleaser at a very affordable price.

Food Pairing

A great match for a Friday night charcuterie and cheese board with friends. No need for fuss at the end of the week, just some good company and tasty cured meats. A really good option for outdoor eating in the warmer months as an accompaniment to picnics and wood-fired pizzas.
