Intro
Like TerraPura’s Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Syrah comes from the warm climate of Colchagua. Whereas some Syrah in Chile tends to display more peppery and spicy character, this wine is a big and joyful offering of red fruit: more Southern Rhône-like with its warmth and sunny fruit but still kept fresh from the salty sea breezes blowing in over beautiful nearby surf towns like Pichilemu perched on the wild Pacific Ocean.
Tasting Note
This wine is defined by silky ripe tannins, sweet red fruits and a long, luscious finish. While there are some red pepper notes on the nose, the palate is dominated by forest berries and liquorice with a long fruity finish.
Food Pairing
With the depth of flavour in this wine, and all those lovely red berry flavours, an Asian style roast duck, perhaps with a plum sauce, would be just the thing. Or something particularly hearty like braised beef or a Middle Eastern style lamb leg with roasted eggplant and pomegranate.
